The comment above is one of those that makes me wonder — should I approve, disapprove — is it spammy, or what? It’s one of those “pingback” things where someone on another site mentions or links to a post on this blog, and I get a “comment” that’s not really a comment. But approving it so it’ll show up as a comment shows other readers that at least someone out there is noticing some of my posts. The link above comes from a site called Link Volume, which is all about — you guessed it — getting links to your site from others. There must be a way to automate a keyword search to find related pages or posts and then create a link. I wonder if the author of the other site actually even read my post to find out if it was relevant. There’s a lot about this blogging business that I’m not quite comfortable with yet.

I’ve learned to not bother with updating the themes if I have things the way I want them. Back when I was using it, an updated version of Ahimsa was completely messed up by comparison to the old one and I finally had to dump it for something else. (That was actually two theme changes ago.)

I’m not sure why a theme designer would break something like a home page link. That kind of violates the principle of least surprise.

With regard to theme complexity, I’ve made my own theme from scratch before. Once (Quinn’s Big City). If I really need to do it again, I will. It’s possible, especially if guided by a decent tutorial (I was), but it’s not something I recommend just anyone try because there are quite a few non-obvious gotchas.

Okay, so the new version of WordPress added another text block to the photo editing page — as in they moved the “caption” block and didn’t tell me. And I was putting the caption in the wrong block. Duh.

Okay, for some reason, the captions for my pictures have disappeared. It must have been that most recent update from WordPress. GRR. So the first photo is of a bracelet of Earth, Moon, Mars orbiting our local star. The second is my attempt to make a neutron star, which are kind of bizarre little critters, so the bizarre was, in fact, intentional. It’s a pin. So is the “pink dwarf star” in the last photo, with it’s bracelets of orbiting pink planets — for all the Pink Warriors out there.
